15 Questions to Ask Your DJ

Is this your full-time business? Are weddings your primary focus?
Prime Time Music is a part time business owned and operated by the Thigpin Family. Weddings are the primary focus of our company.

How do you customize the music experience for each couple? Can you help with song lists and providing suggestions?
As we help you select music for your wedding, we ask that you provide us with a list of 10-20 songs that you would like to hear. We do our best to gather all of your requested music and put together a playlist that matches the feeling and mood of your requested songs.

How do you handle song requests? Can I submit a “do not play” list?
We generally encourage song requests as a way to get your guests more involved with the party. We will filter the requests to make sure they are both acceptable for a wedding setting and match with your vision for the event. This is of course your event and we will not play any songs that you do not want to hear.

Do you have backup equipment?
Yes, we come to each event prepared with extra equipment and backup sets so as to be prepared for any unforeseen circumstances.

Do we get to choose our DJ or will one be assigned? When you hire Prime Time Music for your wedding you are actually hiring a 2 person team. We believe that in order to provide you with the best possible DJ/MC experience it takes two professionals working together. This allows us to better organize the flow of your event, from guiding the cake cutting to staging bouquet pictures, while still playing music and making announcements. Working in teams also allows us to work constantly, even if one team member needs a break.

How long have you been in business?
Robert has been DJing for about 25 years. Brianna started working with him about 6 years ago. Ashley is the newest member of the team with 2 years of experience.

How many weddings to you do on an average weekend?
In order to give you the best possible service we generally only book one wedding on any given weekend. We never book more than one event per day.
Can you provide me with recent couples as references?
Oberlys (newly-weds): contact info. upon request
Dave Williams (father): contact info. upon request
Mandy Woodman (photographer): link on "team" page

What is included in the cost of my event?
The price for each event covers the specified play hours, 1 hour set up, 30 minutes clean up, personalized playlists, assistance with song selection, and a consultation meeting prior to the event.

How much would you charge for overtime?
Overtime prices may vary depending on the circumstances. Please view our PRICING page for more details.

How far in advance do I need to book?
The sooner the better! As we said, we do our best to book only one event a weekend so our calendar fills up fast. We recommend booking at least 4 months before your wedding.

What information do you need from me before the wedding day?
After booking with us and completing the contract we will send you a “wedding info” page to fill out. it covers basic information like the date, time, and location of the event as well as estimated number of guests, songs requests, and details about traditional wedding features.

Will we meet again before the wedding?
We like to meet with the bride and groom at least once before the event. We ask that you complete a “wedding info” page before meeting with us so that we can discuss your song selections, event details, and any questions you may still have.

What is your policy on alcohol or smoking during the wedding?
None of our team members drink or smoke while working.

Why should I hire you as my DJ? What sets you apart from your competition?
We pride ourselves on being MCs, rather than just DJs. Our job as MCs (master of ceremonies) is to guide you through the event and take care of all the little details so you can relax and enjoy the day. We will monitor your timeline, keep you on schedule, coordinate with the photographer and videographer before key events within your wedding, make sure mom and dad and grandparents are involved at appropriate times (and not involved when you need some space).
